We have an executive who who has asked me if we could give him some type of wireless handset that he could walk around the building with. We have a NEC 2000 IVS PBX and we are usign all Dterm 16 button phones.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

It depends on the size of the building. You may need a full blown dect solution or if it is a smaller building you could just put an analogue cordless in. The trick is to make it seem as if it is actually his dterm he is answering. To do that simply make the analogue the number he currently has then make that a line appearance on the dterm but put it on the key he currently has that number on, then make that number the prime of the dterm. Both phones will ring and no matter which he picks up he will answer the call.

I would add an analog port adapter to the Dterm. That way any button on it that rings could be answered.

NEC does provide a wireless solution, But this can be excessive if only for one set.

I would have suggested the NEC solution but PHS is all but dead and I believe about to be declared obsolete (mores the pity a bit like compareing VHS with Betamax the lesser solution won the popularity contest).

An analogue adaptor would be a good Idea and my hats off to fixin for the idea but again the thought springs to mind "how long is this going to be supported?" They will always support analogue extensions and so my solution will always be valid. At the end of the day the question is which is the most cost effective for the application? Only you can decide.

Apologies to Mextera if he was suggesting a dect solution.
