Wireless G Router Getting Slower as Day Goes on???

I have a laptop and a PC connected wirelessly to my D-Link Wireless G router. I just started to notice that as the day goes on each of the computers connection to the router gets slower and slower. For example, when I turned my laptop on this morning my wireless connection status showed my connection speed as 54 mps and when I remote desktop into my PC it showed the same 54 mps. Throughout the day when I would check the connection the speeds would be getting slower, 42 mps, 36 mps, 24 mps, 11 mps all the way down to 2 mps. Any ideas why this would happen? I don't think anyone is connecting to my network because when I go into command line and type in "view net" I only see my two computers. BTW if I restart or let the computer sit for a while the connection goes back up to 54 but if I keep using it the speed keeps decreasing.
Thanks!

It sounds like you may be dealing with a hardware issue. Of course it could be other things.

(1)Try to check latency with a flood ping test when it's running fast as compared to the slower speeds and see if your latency increases.

(2)View available networks at different times and see if more wireless routers are competing for the frequency you are using. Try changing channels and see if that improves your speed.

(3)Try changing your wireless from both to either G or B only and see if it stays stable.
