Hi all,

Need a little help.

I need to set up a wireless extension off out LAN for a mobile training room, and I’m a little confused with what I need to do it.

This is the general aim:

~ 7 Laptops with wireless cards that connect back to the main domain.
~ I don't want them to be on a separate network, (need to log in to the domain), but I don’t think they work like that.
~ The access point for the wireless, router?, needs to be able to be plugged directly into any network port in a building, as the laptops can be used anywhere onsite or offsite.

Helpful part… Money is not an issue.

Any assistance or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brett.

If it is any help this is how I added a wireless extension to my lan

I installed a wireless hub by pluging it in to the router the running the software to configure the security etc(although I left it open for set up). It is set to be a DHCP client so acquired an IP address in the normal way

Then I turned on the laptop (which has an inetgrated wireless card) and had previously been connected to the domain via cable. and it all worked.

I then tightend the security and it still works fine.

I woud be quite happy to move the hub arround and expect it to work

Good Luck

Tim

Hi Tim,

What type of Hub did you use?
I'm a little lost on what I need.

Thanks,

Brett.
