Regardless of which wireless network I connect with (1 at home and 5 at work), I recieve my IP and nameservers (they successfully appear in /etc/resolv.conf and ifconfig). I can perform one operation to the outside Internet (yum update or ping or then I immediately loose any traffic to DNS. Any attempt to reach something outside the subnet is returned either 'unknown host' or 'sendmsg:network unreachable. I would suspect something in the security of the work networks but I'm getting the same behaviour on my home network. Any ideas?

RhythmAce,

Hadn't thought of that; unfortunately turning off all power controls didn't help. I've also noticed that the laptop isn't showing a default route nor will it hold one that is manually added. This is the first 'nix wireless/laptop project I've attempted. I've never seen this behaviour in any of my servers and or desktops. I've tried statics vice dhcp and the problem still remains.

Look in /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default. In there you should see at least the following files: hosts, ifcfg-eth0, network and resolve.conf. Can you post what is in those files when it is not working?

Sure, here you go:

hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

ifcfg-eth0:
DEVICE=eth0
ONBOOT=Yes
BOOTPROTO=dhcp

resolv.conf:
; generated by /sbin/dhclient-script
nameserver x.y.z.140
nameserver x.y.z.150
(both valid and both match /etc/resolv.conf)

nothing in network.

Ifcofig eth0:
Link encap: Ethernet HWaddr xy:xy:xy:xy:xy:xy
inet addr: x.y.z.134 Bcast:x.y.x.255 Mask:255.255.252.0

no TX or RX errors, 23 dropped RX packets

Thanks for the help,let me know if you need any more info
