wireless connection with xp zero config

I have an office with 5 linksys 54g usb adapters. When you login , they do not immediately connect. I have to go to the XP configuration utility and click on "connect". The network is secure with WPA, no broadcast SSID, and restricted mac addresses. We are picking up a singal from a wireless netswork across the street, and they are broadcasting SSID, but WEP enabled. Even though our network is on a different channel and shown as the only cofigured network in the XP configuration, it still just sits there until you tell it to connect.

Any ideas?
