Hello.
I upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Home and have now a problem with my wireless connection. Under Win 2000 i had a constant ping of 20 ms. Now under Windows XP my ping raises 1-2 times within 100 pings (ping -n 100 192.168.0.1) from 20 ms to 3000 ms. This produces a serious lag in online games and makes them unplayable.
This ping "timeout" is always in the same timewindow. It happens very regular. I turned all powersave functions off. Nothing helped. And i googled the half internet yet.

My equipment:
SMC 7004 AWBR as Wireless Router (Firmware 1.96h3)
(only the mac control is active, no WEP or WPA(not supported)

11MBit ATMEL based USB Adapters.

Like i said everything is working under W2000.

You have the option to disable the XP Wireless Zero Configuration service, and just use the Win2k client software. (Start, Administrative Tools, Services, stop the Wireless Zero service and set its startup desposition to disabled).

But before taking that step, make certain that your adapter settings does not have 802.1x authentication checked and enabled.
