We have two Dell Optiplex 760 machines with Fedora Core 8 on. We are going to an exhibition and the only Internet is via wireless, so we need to put a wireless card in each machine.

What cards will work easily in FC8? We are in th UK.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, you need to determine the actual chipset in the wireless NIC - you can't go by card manufacturer or even model number. Chipset are sometimes changed when an adapter is revised/updated, so the Rev # is important as well.

I've had pretty good luck with the Atheros chips and the madwifi drivers.

But it's definitely a moving target. Wireless support is being added to the Linux kernel incrementally as well.
