I have written my own P.O.S softwear from Access for my own business and I am looking for advice on wireless barcode scanners. A presend I am using wireless scanner which has a base unit hooked up to a laptop that is networked to the POS server. The problem is when I sacn a barcode while stock-takeing that is not in the datebase by the time the laptop beeps at me to say no barcode I have scanned about 3-4 more barcodes so I dont know which barcode in not in the database. If I could upload all my barcodes in the Datebase to the barcode scanner this would avoide the delay in telling me. What scanner would be best for this job??

thanks for reading this hope someone can help me.

I have used the Apex 2 and 3 with Catapult systems. The 3 allows a direct wireless connection where the 2 allows you to create sheets, upload the file to the server, then print a differential report. How we use them is we create a file. No way of knowing how these items would have to be configured to interface with your application.

Apex II

Apex III

That being said, in my opinion, the best way of doing this is some type of fully functional terminal that is connected to the database just like the front end terminals.
Symbol makes guns that run MS CE and can handle this as well, but wireless will always be weak in this area because of the amount of data being exchanged.
