I have a ThinkPad 600 running Windows 2000. Can I have a 3Com Ethernet card running concurrently with my wireless card?

I can't understand why it would work because in the case where both cards are installed and I was physically wired to the router, how would the laptop know to use the wired path as opposed to the wireless path?

Thanks in advance.
