Wireless Access Point

Hi hope someone may help....

Started a job with a wireless laptop network already here but has a few configuration problems, I think..

My problem is I cannot access the Wireless access point configuration screen (Via web browser) as nobody knows the IP address of the access point..The default ip has gone + I cannot reset the settings..

I have the mac address of the access point but have no idea if I can use this to get the ip address....

Is there any way of finding the ip address from the mac address or has anyone any ideas of how I can get to the web based configuration screen of the access point...???

if your IP is 192.168.0.x the router's will be 192.168.0.1

This is pretty much a standard - I'll be surprised if yours is any different.

to resolve MAC to IP, use "arp -a" (or "arp -help" for usage info)

Most APs will not be accessible unless you do a wired connection directly to a PC. Some offer USB wired access for this reason. If there is a SNMP configuration option, this can be used for remote access to the AP.

Otherwise, connect the AP wired directly to workstation and try the default IP address as manarth suggested. You can usually find the manual for the AP on-line from the manufacturer's website. Find out what the factory default for the AP might be, and then do a loooong reset of the AP to factory defaults by holding the reset button in for a good 30 seconds.
