Hi,

I have a Dell Axim and I need to scan barcodes with it. However I also need to be connected to a wireless network to update a database through an intranet. I have a socket in hand scanner and a truemobile 1100 wireless card but of course you can only use one at a time. Does anyone have any options or solutions that would allow me to barcode scan and be connected to a wireless network at the same time?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you have to stick with the Dell? You could buy another device that has wireless built-in. I'm not aware of any way of using two cards in the same slot at the same time.

What would be your suggestion? Probably a handheld with integrated wireless huh?

Yes, my PocketPC only has one slot and no built-in wireless so I can't make any recommendations but loads of other current models have wireless built-in. Some of the more expensive models also have two slots, usually an SD slot and a CompactFlash one, so you have many options depending on your budget.

Why not upgrade your Axim to the X30 with integrated wireless?

Can't give you an answer above what others have suggested, but could you point me in the directions of your scanner please? I have an ipaq that we're trialling for our epos app alongside some proper HHT's with built in scanners, but I haven't seen scanners for the ipaq at all.

Cheers

Mike

Hi,

Don't know if this is any help, but we use a barcode scanner with an ipaq h2210. It's called a 'SOCKET IN-HAND SCAN CARD (ISC)' and it fits into the CF slot.
