The 6900 series phones have a headset jack on the back of the phone. Users are switching from 52xx series phones and they have a lot of Plantronics wired headsets.

How can we use an existing wired headset?

plug the headset into the headset jack

use the audo settings within the admin menu ( cog wheel) to set the preference for audio

53xx headset key deosnt work on 69

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Here's what I've found...
The 6930 phones - They have 4 RJ connections on the back. They've moved connections around on the back of the phone from one REV to another.

Of the phones I've seen, from RIGHT to left...
the port farthest to the right, is identified with the headset icon is to be used with the handset - It can be used with a wired headset (Plantronics Polaris was tested), but you have to lift the handset to make it work.. and of course, this disabled the use of the handset itself.

The phone then has an Ethernet port that goes to the network and pulls PoE. Followed by another Ethernet port that will go to the workstation.

Then another 8-pin connector with an adapter to allow for a handset type 4P4C connector to fit without it flopping around. This is identified with the HANDSET icon. However, this port does not appear to work at all - with handset or headset.
Above this adapted connector, is a USB port.

According to the documentation, you must use a USB headset if you want something that's professional grade.

Alternately, you can use a Bluetooth headset or a DECT adapter and headset.

Mitel really did a bad design on the functionality of this phone. And they've done a worse job in documenting it.

Connecting a Wired Analog or DHSG/EHS Headset (Optional)Turn the phone over, locate the headset input port marked . If you have a headset with an RJ9/RJ22 4-pin connector, insert the headset cord into the port until it clicks into place. If you have a DHSG/EHS headset with an RJ45 6-pin or 8-pin connector, remove the plastic headset port adapter and then insert the cord into the port until it clicks into place.WARNING:THE HEADSET PORT IS FOR HEADSET USE ONLY. PLUGGING ANY OTHER DEVICES INTO THIS PORT MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PHONE AND WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

The headset jack must be enabled/disabled via a programmed headset key.

I suppose you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just not going to suppose very hard.

We also have Plantronics headsets that we kept when we upgraded 52XX sets to 6920 & 6930 sets. They work fine when plugged into the headset jack, the one described by nytalkin with the removable plastic adapter. By default, you need to double tap the handsfree key to switch to headset but as said by Billz66, you can change that with the parameters key in the Audio/Audio Path menu.

Be aware that phones before rev. B hardware have a problem with the headset jack audio channel. If you're on a call with your headset and another call rings on a second line, the ringing sound mutes the call for a second. If you've configured your multicall keys/key system with Continuous Ringing, you lose the audio altogether. Rev. B hardware is supposed to correct that. (not tested that yet)
