Hello, I just recently obtained a hard disk that has old partitions (not sure what filesystem type or whatever), and I would like to remove those partitions, perhaps with a 'wipe' boot disk. Does anybody have a link to an iso image perhaps for a disk like this?

Thanks!

Install the HD as a Slave drive, and repartition and reformat it in Windows.

will get you bootable floppies. Try something like 98SE and use fdisk to delete partitions.

Why not just boot with an XP cd.

This allows you to systematically nuke your partitions then re partition it then format.

Either that or create a boot disk with an old 98 machine using "format A: /s /u" then copy "fdisk.exe" to it and use that.

I'd just use option 1.

Cheers!!!!

Windows Fdisk.exe and Format.exe do not wipe drives clean and may not remove non-Windows partitions. If you want to completely destroy data on the hard drive then as Freestone suggested. You can also use the free "zero fill" utilities offered on many hard drive manufacturer's websites.

DBAN works well for me. Available in floppy / CD sizes for all your HDD wiping needs [bigsmile]
