Anyone have any idea if Progression 7.6.300C will run on WinXP x64 Pro?

If so, how?

Thanks in advance.

Working on my first x64 box, but its a server, and is going to be a SQL server. It is for an other ERP package. I had to talk to the software providor, and they advised me, not to bother installing the application to the SQL server.
Apparently you can run app's that are 32bit in a emmulation mode. There is also two ODBC's to setup datasources in 64bit or 32bit.
I am curious to see how it runs. Should be setting up SQL2005 tomorrow. I think it will scream. Quad dual core Itanium processors 8 15k drives and 16gig of ram for 160 ERP users.

Yea it should scream.

Found one solution to my problem that works. Installed the SQL 2005 Client even though our server is SQL 2000. Installed the2005 client on the x64 machine and macola runs fine. I am sure this would be an unsupported platform but it is working for now.

Only option is to go to SQL 2005 on the server and upgrade to 7.6.400 etc. Not really wanting to do this so that 4 of the 50 users can access. Might wind up with an extra machine in that area.

Andy,
The upgrade to 7.6.400 SPA is the easiest and best one that Exact has produced. Any particular reason you are reluctant to upgrade, other that the normal fear of upgrades?
The strong passwords is an option and not turned on by default and the only real issue that I have seen is the way they handle credit card processing in OE cash if you don't use their credit card processing. ALso there is an issue with the VBACONN.EXE that you need to know about.
If you want to chat about this give a call or send an e-mail.

Its not the upgrade to 7.6.400 that I am avoiding. I am avoiding upgrading to SQL 2005 just for 4 users to work.

If it aint broke why fix it?

Andy,

From what I have read in SQL forums, it sounds like skipping SQL2005 and going to SQL2008 is a better choice especially if coming from SQL2K.

That didn't answer your question but if you have to upgrade, once is better than twice.

Curious, why only 4 users and not all?

Only 4 - 6 of my users are receiving x64 machines. These are my Solidworks engineers. SQL 2K client will not install on x64.

The other 70ish users are fine.
