Hey all,

I'm in a very worried state of mind right now. My AMD Athlon XP, WinXP SP2 PC was giving major issues; local 160 Gig Drive (XP Installed) was going, so I purchased a WD 250 Gig IDE drive to backup my info. Everything came off well, re-installed XP on RMA replacement 160 Gig from Maxtor, booted into XP, updated to SP2 and all motherboard specific drivers installed. Decided to check on my data except it isn't there under My Computer.

WinXP recognizes my WD 250 Gig drive under Disk Management, but there are no partitions on this drive. All that is there is a disk and the ability to Convert to Dynamic Disk or create a New Partition. It doesn't seem to recognize my info and the partition that was there just yesterday. I'm afraid to do anything as I don't want to lose my documents, files, pictures, music, etc. Please help, I'm not sure where to turn from here?

Thanks

Were you using a program called GoBack on your old system when you backed up your data? If so, GoBack must be reinstalled.

Freestone,

Thanks for the fast response. I wasn't using any backup or data recovery software such as GoBack when before. I just installed the 250 Gig Drive and copied my data over through Windows Explorer. I basically just copied over my pictures, documents, music, etc. onto the new drive that I setup and formatted right through WinXP.

Thanks

Open a command prompt (Start, Run..., cmd) and enter each command below one at a time.

diskpart
list disk
select disk x (where x is the disk number of your 250GB drive, probably 1, e.g. select disk 1)
detail disk
exit

What are the results listed?

Freestone,

Here is the results

WDC WD2500JB-00FUA0
Disk ID: B87EB87E
Type: IDE
Bus: 1
Target: 1
LUN ID: 0

There are no volumes.

What should I do now?

Thanks
