i need help

my computers are connected both using winxp
the main comp has cable internet and the client sharing using ICs thats fine.

but i run website of the client which had 1 NIC and internal Ip 192.x.x.x

and the server has 2 NICS ,ip assigned by ISP for calbe modem.

i need to resolve the IP to the main comp and forward to my internal ip anyone know how?

what you need is either a proxy server, or a NAT (Network Address Translator) server.

A proxy works by fetching requsted pages and keeping them in memory for other computers to view.
NAT works by altering the packets as they go out so that the internet always sees the source address as your connected computer. When recieving replies, it replaces the destination with your private address and forwards it internally.

Try analogx proxy

(it's free and simple)

If you're using WinXP, set up the firewall to allow the machines to talk internally!
Obviously it's better to use XP PRO as the home edition is basically network-crippled.... Mixed Linux/Win2000 Network Administrator
