WinXP Home - Upgrade won't load

Hi! I'm installing WinXPHome on a computer (pentium 400) with Win98 loaded on it. I boot from the upgrade CD and the install begins. It goes through a couple of screens and comes up with an error message that says - it cannot mount the boot volume. I've run scandisk on the drive and it's OK - lots of room on the drive as well. Any ideas?
