I've managed to set-up one of my XP machines to act as a VPN server on my LAN which it networked through a Linksys Befsr41 router. All computers are running WinXP and it connects to internet through a cable modem.

Here's the problem... I use a laptop with WinXP using dial-up through AOL to connect to my VPN server, i could connect and logon to the server and i can see all the computers on the LAN... however the only resources i could use is the VPN servers resources. If i try and access another machine it gives me a message saying that the drive is inaccessible and i don't have the rights to access that drive or computer.

The account that i use to logon to the server exists on all the machines and it has administrative priviledged. Also that VPN server is configured to allow access to the network

Hi
It seems that we both have very similar network setups with a dial-up AOL connection. My problem is that when i make a VPN connection it only stays connected for about 5 or 10 min. I can browse the Network and see all my shares. I recently read something about AOL and a VPN client connection.Important Information:

Will the VPN Service work with America Online?

AOL 6.0 and AOL 5.0 do not function properly with the VPN clients. The VPN client still works with AOL 4.0, and since America Online does permit you to have multiple copies of AOL packages installed, you can keep, (install AOL 6.0 or AOL 5.0 without overwriting AOL 4.0), or reinstall AOL 4.0 (if you have already removed it). We have tested and found that both AOL 4.0 and AOL 5.0 can co-exist on the same machine, and AOL 4.0 when installed in this manner still supports the VPN Client.

I am using AOL 6.0 with very little luck. Hey try to setup DFS on your Win2k server and Link the shares of the other computers works great for me.
