Hi

I have often seen people who have problematic word documents or just word being problematic.

A typical error message is "Winword has encountered errors and will be closed by Windows".

Often, If I click start>run and type Winword.exe /a it opens fine!
This is just a temporary workaround.

Does anyone know what the /a does? I'm told it puts word into safe mode!? Looks the same to me!

Any ideas?
Are there other switches you can use and what do they do?

Thanks

Pileyrei

I believe it starts word without a template or and without startup addins.

Your normal.dot template may be corrupt. Try renaming your normal.dot template and then open word, it should then make a new normal.dot template.
