I have a Toshiba 4015cds laptop, still running Windows 95, and I'm trying to update my WinSPM to version 7.0. However I'm stuck at the version 4 to version 5 upgrade. The installation program says it does not see version 4.0 and won't complete the upgrade to 5.0. Version 4 works fine, its just in the upgrade that I have the problem. Any ideas (or answers)? Thanks.

There was a problem with the "conversion" process and made it a mess. Best solution is to get a copy of WinSPM 6 or 7 and life will be just fine.

I just went through this tonight. I started from winspm 2 which came with the system. I then applied all patches and installs as listed on the support site. When I got to the 4to5 upgrade, I had to accept the new directory that spm wanted to install to. The conversion fails if you install the v5 software to the same directory as the previous version. If I remember correctly, the conversion from 4to5 is when the application changes from Lucent to Avaya. Hope this helps.
