WinSPM-Release 5 - Password Problem 3

Hello Everyone - I've had to reinstall this software because my old PC crashed, and can't find the password I choose. Is there a "generic" password I could use? Need someones expert advise on this! THX

There are two passwords associated with WinSPM. When you first install the program on your computer you come to a dialog box asking you to enter a user name and password. This is used to open the WinSPM program. You can leave both fields blank if you want to (you will be prompted that this is a security risk), or you can enter name and password. If you lose or forget these, you are doomed, and will have to deinstall the program and then reinstall it. The second password is encountered only when you dial into a switch. The factory setting for this password is craftr4. If this has been changed, you'll need to direct connect to the switch or use the operator console to change the password.

You're gonna love thin one! For the WinSPM password, look in the directory on the hard drive where the WinSPM resides. Find the .ini file and open it with notepad. There is s field called password, BUT that is not the password. The password has to be translated. It is translated by substituting each letter in the password field with the letter before it, alphabetically. So..... if the coded password is "QPOJFT" the translated real password is "PONIES". ... real simple, sort of. The user name for the WinSPM program is irrelevant, anything will work, but the password has to be right.

Or you can go to the winspm.ini file and change password=true to password=false. This will then prompt SPM
to ask you to setup a new password upon logging in.
