WinSPM R 8 issues 1

Are there any known issues with spm R8 on a laptop with windows XP? Since we upgraded from R-7 we can not connect and the SPM window will not close, we have to reboot the lap top to close?? We are using a USB to serial converter. I have tried two different convertes that work fine with other serial applications like hyperterminal. Any ideas?

I have been using WINSPM 8.0 on a laptop for a while now and I have not had any issues. Does the software work with a direct connection? if so you may want to try and update your modem drivers

Hi colamdin,
This is using a direct connect from the usb to serial adapter to the admin port. We have 2 other laptops with a built in serial port that work fine but they are using Windows 98. The one giving us trouble is using Windows XP.

I had issues with the USB to Serial adapters as well with any version of WINSPM. What I did was buy a PCMIA Serial card by Socket. It worked the nuts.

I use a desktop with XP pro and have no problems with a USB to serial adaptor. It might be a driver problem.

You can also get the upgrade patch to R9 on the Avaya website. It says it supports XP
