I have just installed winspm version 7. My plan was to connect to our legend via a line which connects to a port on an 016 card. This line is active, I can use my modem to dial out for example, but when I try to *10 I get dead air. When I *10 from one of our digial phones I get the modem squeal.

Any insight is appreciated !

Bill

Assuming that you went through the setup of the modem witht he Win SPM software, setting speeds, and such, this should work. Could your modem be set to silence, i.e., it works, but you can't hear it?

Verify that the station port you are using has the line preference set for a SA button and not a line/pool button.

I don't know how the port I am using is configured so that could very well be the problem.

How do I check the preferences of the station port ? Also, what does SA stand for ?

Thanks,
Bill

Get dial tone from that port on a standard K-Mart type phone, and then dial an extension. If it rings, you have system dial tone; SA stands for System Access - the keys through which a station (phone) accesses various features of the phone system, hence, system access.)

I can dial internal extensions with the K-Mart phone. So I guess that I do have an SA extension.

When I do *10 though using that phone, I get dead air.

Here is some more information on my problem.

When I do * 10 from my K-mart phone, I get dead air. But if at the same time I pick up my mlx-16 phone I hear the modem squeal. Also, other people on the phone at the time I did the * 10 also heard the modem squeal. It's as if it is being broadcast accross the ports that are in use, but it is not being picked up by the phone system ....

Thanks,

Bill

If you've not figured it out yet, this is not supposed to happen. There may be a software fix to this as it souinds systematic. Have you tried to do a restart of the system, i.e., turn off left to right, turn on right to left?
