Installing MS TCP/IP on Win95 PC and getting 10045 errors when pinging. I've run wsockupd.exe as suggested by microsoft, but it didn't help. Anyone have this problem before? Any suggestions?
Thanks

The cause is most likely mismatched versions of TCP/IP components. This could be due to a number of reasons but likely casued by adding network components after applying either the Winsock2 update or DUN 1.3.

My suggestion would be to uninstall DUN 1.3 (if installed), remove the Winsock update using the batch file provided in the Windows\WS2bakup directory, and then uninstall the TCP/IP protocol. Restart and resintall TCP/IP, DUN1.3, and then Winsock2.

Doug
dxd_2000@yahoo.com

Thanks for the tip. This is a clean install of TCP/IP. I applied MS previous winsock 2 update. It didn't work. Uninstalling TCP/IP and reinstalling didn't do the trick either. I found a link through MS Document # Q191064 that had a new (to me anyway) winsock 2 update utility. It's a file called W95WS2setup.EXE. After I ran this, which didn't even look like it ran at all, and rebooted, the error went away. This is the first time I've run ito this problem. But it looks like everything is working ok now.
Thanks,
Dom
