I had a 8ad.com something on the computer. Seems removed but I still have problems. Since I removed the machine is even slower. I had ad-ware, spyware, cwh. ran and I checked the registry and found these:
HKEY Local--microsoft--Messenger Service : advpack.dll, LaunchINFSection, c:Windows\INF\msmsgs.inf, BLC.remove,5

HKEY-Current user-Software-Microsoft-Search Assistant-ACMru
5001
5603- win.ini, winshow*, findfast.exe,winlink,msupdater.exe,font,cdr*.sys, microsoft works
5604 -winshow*

Hkey Current user--software-microsoft-windows-current version-run :
MSMSGS "c:\program files\messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

And a question. Can I be infected with any worm, spyware, adware thing by only opening the email (Outlook Exp.) with no files attached to them?

Thank you!

As for Outlook Express - yes if your "preview pane" is active. If it is active, when you receive e-mail the attachment is automatically opened by the preview pane. You may not know that it IS an attachment. The e-mail may be a virus renamed as a file. You need a good anti-virus program.
