Winshow.dll

I discovered last night that my home laptop was infected with WinShow.dll. This is a piece of spyware that reports your surfing habits to a central server. Don't know how I got it, as I'm usually pretty good about not clicking on attachements, etc.

I found removal instructions here:


I had to reboot after cleaning the registry because the file was in use (it registers itself as a browser helper object (BHO). Afterwards I found my web browsing was much faster, as there weren't connections being made back to their server.
