Hi,

Hope someone can help. We recently configured a new server to run Windows 2003, and installed DHCP/WINS servers successfully. These ran fine until we renamed the server.... now WINS manager is telling us it cannot find the WINS server- "The error was: the network path was not found."

I suspect all that is needed is to uninstall and reinstall WINS on the newly renamed server....but as it is our main file server I need a good reason to reboot it! Does anyone have any experience with a similar issue?

Yours hopefully ,

Tom

Found the answer meself - Remote Registry was disabled. Too much hardening, methinks.......

Why are you runnig WINS on a new server? Do you have a lot of older clients?

Yup, we have NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP in the same office. There are plans to migrate everyone to all XP soon......I hope!
