Hey,

I'm looking for a good resource that will provide me with indepth info on how to setup a WINS server, what the best OS is (2000 vs. NT4.0) what the requirements are how to change\convert LMHOSTS files or add them to the server, etc.

Anyone knows of any good links or resources (besides TechNet) out there please let me know.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi,

For a starter, why use NT4? MS is stopping all support this year. So, start using 2000.
For other recourses. if you do a search on google with for example: deploying WINS, you will get a lot of usefull information besides the MS sites.

Setting up a WINS server itself is not very difficult. If you use DHCP, let the DHCP server als give the correct WINS server address to the clients when it is passing out IP adresses.
