Wins replication
Have recently installed a secondary WINS server with both machines being push and pull partners of each other. There are no event log error messages, the WINS manager statistics shows replication to be taking place at the appointed times and the wins.mdb is exactly the same size on both machines. Despite all these apparently good signs, after a week the secondary database only shows about 14 entries compared to the hundreds in the primary, the failed queries (in the secondary) outnumber the successful by a factor of 40:1 and both the total releases and total registrations show zero.
Whats the story mornin' glory....

Ta very much in advance for any light shed...

How are your users getting the address of the secondary WINS(DHCP, Manual)? Do you have the IP address on of the second WINS entered into your clients' network properties?

yes, I'm using DHCP to assign WINS address and the both WINS server IP address's are configured in DHCP server...

Hello bobmac

I'm having the exact situation with my 2 WINS servers, would very much like to know if your 'problem' was solved and how it was solved.

looking fwd to hearing from you.

When you look at the database of the selected server in WINS Manager If "Show only Mappings from selected Owner" is selected It will only show mappings that originated from that server. If you select "Show all Mappings" it should show you the entire database.
