We have a Windows 2000 network. We have two locations connected by a T-1. We have servers at both ends. DHCP and wins are running. It seems that what is seen in Network Neighborhood cycles throughout the day. SOmetimes I can see the whole network, sometimes only my subnet, and other times only the other location. I have checked my wins settings and replication is set to push/pull on both ends. What could I be missing?

Thanks for any help!

ive seen this happen lots of times with NT4 and wins in win2000 has improved much

however you should be using DNS and configure DNS to use WINS also as lookup for backward compatibility for servers that use netbios name resolution only

you'll then get a more stable network listing "Work to live, don't live to work"

"The problem with troubleshooting is that sometimes it shoots back"

What do I do to check if DNS is using WINS? DNS is running on our network.

goto DNS
drill down the server showing
right click on the domain name
select properties
in WINS tab ensure you have "use wins forward lookup" ticked and put in the IP addresses "Work to live, don't live to work"

"The problem with troubleshooting is that sometimes it shoots back"
