Ok - here's the network: User login into a Novell 4x and an NT 4 server. Users grab their IP from the DHCP server on the Novell box. All users have the latest client from Novell.

NT has WINS running. On each PC, I locally set each to use DHCP and WINS. Each PC was setup with "DHCP for WINS resolution" - but that didn't make any sense. I also have each set with "Disable DNS."

Everything seems to be working fine (seems is the key word here). All scripts/mappings work fine as well. However, when I view the WINS Manager on the NT box, it shows the following:

STATS -
Total Queries Received 85
Successful 7
Failed 78
Total Releases 21
Successful 21

DETAILED INFO -
Unique Registrations 33
Conflicts 16
Renewals 18

Any feedback or suggestions you can give me to figure this thing out would be appreciated! Thank you ~

Hmm I think I speak for many of us by saying this would take a long time to do. So here are two great books you can learn from.

1. Windows NT TCP/IP Network Admin. from O'reilly

2. Sams Teach yourself TCP/IP in 21 Days.

Maybe if I have some time I can go over a bit with you, but for now I am swamped. Read the above and you will be doing great. :)
The Geek

Dont be afraid to share what you know. There are no losers in our arena, only self rightous monkeys atop their own tree.
