WINS, DC necessary? WIN2K Server

I'm setting up a segmented 3 node cluster environment that will server a thin client to users accross the WAN.
DNS is a root server on the other side of the WAN.

Do I need WINS for such a small stand alone environment?
Do I need a DC?

I won't have users authenticating through a Domain.
