Hi,

I've been using Winroute pro for some time now, but from the beginning I had major problems configuring it all. The last problem to tackle is that I can't read newsgroups on the 'client' PC (using Outlook express). It works perfectly on the 'Winroute' PC but not on the client. On attempting to load the list of newsgroups, it fails to connect to the ISP, and then gives a timeout!! I read something about Newsgroups using NNTP as protocol. Strange, since the manual lists that one as being supported by Winroute.....

My config.. 2PC's both running Win98 1st edition, both BEHIND NAT in Winroute

PC1
1 NIC 192.168.0.1 for internal network (subnet 255.255.255.0)
1 NIC 192.168.0.3 for cablemodem (subnet 255.255.255.0)
- (both no WINS, no DNS, no Gateway)
1 virtual adapter (Efficient Networks PPoE) for the cablemodem
- obtains auto-IP, DHCP for WINS, but no DNS, no Gateway

PC 2
1 NIC 192.168.0.2 for internal network (subnet 255.255.255.0)
Gateway = 192.168.0.1, no WINS,
DNS host = 192.168.0.1
domain = ? (should there be something here?)
search order = 192.168.0.1

In Winroute
- No DHCP, No mailserver, DNS server = ON, Proxy=ON
- NAT (only) on Efficient Networks PPoE adapter
- No Port mappings!!

Anyone else with this problem??? Please help!!

I'm just getting to grips with Winroute myself so I'm not 100% but I guess you need to map some ports. I've had to do this to run some other applications through it from a client PC.
