Hello, I am just wondering how I can Map Ports In WinRoute Firewall v5
Here is my network set up.... 3 computers 2 of which r clients hooked to my xp-pro server(Internal ip addys are 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.3)
192.168.0.1 is my local area connection for my server which has 2 network cards one for my adsl router (192.168.1.2 and gateway of 192.168.1.1) and the client network card connected to a hub of 192.168.0.1.
gateway is 192.168.1.1 for all my clients and server.
just wondering how i map these ports so i can connect to gamespy arcade.
Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function:
6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)

I have all my clients using "NAT"
Everything works fine for online games and browsing, just not gamespy arcade.

any help appricated as I have tryed everything, searched on the net tryed what others have and still no luck

Try turning on UPNP in the configuration of winroute 5. UPNP maps the necessary incoming ports to the correct internal IP as they are needed by the application, provided the application also supports UPNP.

But to be honest i've used gamespy arcade before with winroute Pro 4.2, and didnt need to map any ports. In general when an application sends out data thru a certain port, winroute's nat table keeps that port open for incoming data from the same ip as data was sent to, for a limited time. only if the server on internet sends replies back over a different port than your application sent the data thru, a port map is needed. But that is very rare. And then you also need to know which protocols need to be mapped (TCP or UDP in most cases).

good luck.

Hello Again...Just reminding "pmf71 (TechnicalUser)" that i am using winroute firewall not winroute pro theres a difference between the 2....I am just wondering why It is not working for game spyarcade as all other things work for internet on my client computers. But I will try and turn on upnp and see if it works.....Ok turned it on and still nothing...do I have to map the ports in winroute firewall manually or is it automatically done?
and if i have to map them myself how is this done?
the ports again are:Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function:
6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)

winroute firewall 5 is the successor to the winroute pro 4.x

Firewall / NAT functionality is basically the same as in 4.x, except it is even more flexible.

it's important to check the traffic policy section in winroute to see if anything outbound is being blocked. As i said, gamespy arcade worked fine with me, without the need to map any ports.

By default, all incoming ports are not mapped, thus blocked.

If you dont know how to map a port, i suggest you look for some documentation about this subject, as basic knowledge about this subject is urgently advised before attempting anything like this, because it can become quite confusing sometimes.

In case you don't already have it : Download the manual from it's in pdf format and explains exactly how the nat table works, and how ports are mapped plus a whole load of other useful things.

good luck.

Here R the rules i have set up for my winroute firewall network..... Hope its not 2 confusing ...remember its for winroute Firewalls traffic policy not winroute pro
Rule 1: (name Icmp Traffic) (Source Firewall) (Destination ANy) (Service ping) (action ticked) (Translation None) (Description Enables Out Going Icmp Traffic-ping,traceroute, etc) (Protocol default)

Rule 2: (Name Nat) (source local area connection) (destination adsl router) (service any) (action ticked) (translation nat default outgoing interface) (description enables access from local machines to public network) (protocol default)

Rule 3: (Name Local traffic) (source Firewall local area connection) (destination firewall local area connection)(service any) (action ticked) (translation none)(description Enables local traffic between firewall and local network) (protocol default)

Rule 4: (name firewall traffic) (source firewall) (destination adsl router) (service any) (action ticked) (translation none) (description enables communication between firewall and local network)

rule 5 default rule all other traffice is denied

Hope this helps...is my set up right...everything works for browsing online games execpt gamespy arcade, when i turn off winroute then gamespy arcade works on the winroute server side is it the firewall blocking gamespy?

it may be better if you made a screenshot with alt-printscreen and convert it to jpg and mail it to me, pmf71@hotmail.com
