Winoldap running excessively

I am running a Dell Inspiron laptop, windows 98 second edition. Connected to the internet through a PC/MCI card with an ethernet hook-up, to a router, to a cable modem. For no reason that I can determine, the program winoldap is running about a dozen times when I push Ctrl-Alt-Delete. End task shuts it down, but must be done for each instance and does not prevent it from starting up again. I have no idea what changed in my system to make this start, as far as I can tell, my computer just decided it loves this program. If anyone could tell me how to keep it from running, or how to keep it from running 12+ times on my computer, it would be greatly appreciated.

Check MSCONFIG. Type this in at the Run prompt. This will tell you what is starting up at boot up.

If you figure out how to get rid of those annoying Winoldap programs, please let me know. I sometimes have 45+ running at once, and they come out of no where. It's got to the point of bogging down my system so much that I have less than 10% system resources free at a time. But no one seems to know how to stop it from running. Someone please HELP!!!!!!

1. Any dos apps you guys use?
2. Download and install Spybot. Update it. When the list of updates appears, change the download site to the US one. Scan and fix spyware problems.
3. Update your virus scanner and scan for viruses as well.
4. As the above post says, run MSCONFIG, and uncheck all unwanted apps on the startup tab. This will keep them from running. You only need systray, the rest can go for now, just as a test.

You guys have an MS-DOS program running;

Windows module, required to run MS-DOS based applications, and which is auto-started when Windows is asked to run an MS-DOS application. In general, therefore, this module will only ever appear in the Task List when you also have MS-DOS based applications running.

Recommendation :
Leave untouched.

WINOLDAP--GONE FOREVER ON WINDOWS 98SE. HERE'S HOW.

First close all instances of WINOLDAP that appear running on your system using ctrl/alt/delete. Then using EXPLORER go to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM. In the system folder find the file named WINOA386. RENAME THIS FILE. I simply added today's date the to name as: WINOA38631904.MOD. Then close Explorer and that should do it. I tested this by returning the file name to its original state and WINOLDAP again began appearing as a current program on my system. Went back and renamed the file once more and haven't seen OLDWINAP since. Good Luck!
