Winodws 98 will only boot to safe mode 1

Dear all, PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS !!! because even Microsoft can't help.
(PC spec. Athlon 700Mhz, 128Meg Ram, Windows 98 SE)
I turn the PC on, it goes all the way through the routine of booting up until the Windows loading screen, and then it resets itself. It goes all the way through to the safe menu (DOS type screen) where it will only let me in in Safe Mode. Can't figure out what it is?
ANY ideas would be most useful.

I recently added 128Meg Ram DIMM. From this all my problems have occurred. Despite the fact that the BIOS and Windows recognises the DIMM.

Have you tried to remove it? Is it the same as the original? If its a different type you will get these problems. James Collins

It is a different type, but I have since removed the offending DIMM and the problem persists...

You can try 1 of things that may help.

1) Boot into safe mode and run SFC (START>RUN>SFC). This program will fix corrupted system files.

2) Boot to a command prompt and run [scanreg /restore] and choose a registry date from before this problem (This is assuming you allowed the regisrty program to be run on each days initial boot)
