Winnt.sif, on the Driver Disk

I know that it is not supported by Microsoft, but I have placed a Winnt.sif file on a Compaq 5i driver diskette, and sometimes, I can do an unattended installation based on this floppy (for Win2k server)

Can anyone tell me why it works sometimes? It never works with a Dl360G1, sometimes with a Dl360G2, and I am 2 for 2 on a Dl360G3.
