We just purchased a new LAN here at my work that is running win2k. We used to have a Novell LAN that is using a winNT exchange server. My problem now is that when i try to get the winNT server on the same domain as the Win2k server, they have an "election" and the winNT server loses the election and fails to start up any of the services. I am also trying to get the Win2k server to see the exchange server in the Active Directory.

Can anyone out here help me??? We would like to migrate to our new LAN, but w/o the exchange server talking to the win2k server, that is not possible.

Oh and i have tried putting them on different domains and still no luck. I will update if i find anything else, but if you have some advice, feel free to leave your comments.

Check to see if your Win2K server is running in Native Mode or Mixed Mode. That might be a good start. And what do you mean exactly by "election". Can you cut and paste an exact error message?

from what know, there's all backup domain controller except one primary domain controller for winnt. for win2k, there's different, win2k allows more than one domain controller.

Check dim things - are the names the same? are the IP addresses the same?

When you say election, can you tell us the error messages and particularly any entries in the event log of the NT server.
