Recursing war story:
The backup is running (concurrently with other alwys-on WINNT threads like SQL server). It shows a message box with the files being currently processed and and OK and a Cancel button. I am impatient. I go to the server. I open an NT Explorer window to inspect files.
I tile the windows.
The message box of the backup program becomes empty: it has only blue title and a grey background without OK and Cancel buttons.
Task mager says that the backup program does not answer.
I kill it. I see in the backuplog 9999 files.
I start the backup program again. It looks for the catalog but it does not find it on the tape.
I start again the backup and run home. Later that my wife expects. Nobody is working on the server and its workstations. The whole screen belongs to the backup program. The program displays its message box with the processed files and OK Cancel buttons. Next morning I get up earlier and open the door of the server room firstly in the dawn. I see again an empty message box.
I am again at state zero: the last full backup is 100 days old instead of 99.
