Hi,

I just installed WinMe on a fresh new system and HDD and it is hanging every hour or so. The windows just lock up. I can move the mouse, but I can't click on anything. When I ctrl-alt-del to get to the task manager, it show msgsrv32(not responding). When I select it and hit 'end task', it works OK for a while and then does the same thing.

I have a Intel 815 Motherboard with 800Mhz PIII, 256Mb 133Mhz RAM, and 20G and 12G HDD (Neither in DMA - thats another problem), SMC ethernet card, onboard Video and Sound. I think the video controller is Intel 815, and the sound is Sigmatel, but I'm not sure cause the system is at home.

Any ideas??

An tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Elena

I found my system lock up. Using win me. experience similar problem. Discovered that whenever would start an application and system would look for a file, system lock up. only reboot would make system work again. discovered that when i started, from fresh bootup, to open my windows explorer or did a files search without starting any other program and (after opening win explorer and letting search for all drives I could close it) , system less prone to lock up, big time.
