recently i ran a patch that claim to bring back dos to winme...(the one that patch 'io.sys, command.com, regenv.exe)

but now whenever i try to boot, a message says:
Invalid system disk
Please replace disk and press any key to continue...

now i know theres nothing in my a:..
so whats wrong??

(i suspect that the patch thingy may had cause this...)

You would suspect correctly I'm afraid. Need yourself a working WinME EBD. Make one at a friend's house if necessary.

Make sure that in addition to the standard system files you also have SYS.COM and FDISK on that floppy.

You'll boot from the floppy, and at the prompt,

SYS C:

This transfers the correct OS startup files to C:

FDISK /MBR

This writes the correct MBR strap. Not necessary in many cases but just something I prefer to do so as to be thorough.

That's about all there is to it.
