Winlogon.exe error with W2K sp3

Hi,

I have just tried to install sp3 on W2K professional. It got half way through then hung. After 30mins of no movement I hard rebooted the pc.
Now when it boots up it gets almost to the logon screen then comes up with a winlogon.exe error.
Saying "the exception Priviledged instruction"

I have tried a repair of w2k from the disk - runs through then same error.

Any ideas ?

have you tried to boot to last known good (hold f8 at startup)? If it lets you on that way then maybe finish service pack 3 or if you chose to leave a unistall for it unistall back to service pack 2.
