winipcfg not showing nic

hi all...

I have a hyperdata laptop with 98se...i am trying to install a nic and when i plug it into the pcmcia slot
windows detects it no prob...it identifies correctly and if i look in device manager i can see it listed...

the problem is that when i try to use winipcfg to release and renew the ip...it doesn't show up...I only see PPP???

Where PPP is displayed is there a drop down menu? But if you have a DSL connection it may not work. Have a look:

the drivers for the card may not have installed correctly when you first put them in....even with dsl you should see the mac address, the correct one in winipcfg, if it is not there...you could experience problems....you might want to talk to your NIC manufacturer sometimes discussion is the only way to learn
