Short of creating it manually, is there any way to print out a display of the Wingdings font?

To print a font sample

Open Fonts in Control Panel.
Double-click the font you want to print.
On the sample page, click Print.

To open a Control Panel item, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click the appropriate icon.

This is from Win2000 Help.

Dave,
This is great, but how do you know without manually counting and comparing to a lettered font chart, what the symbol is in alpha/numeric format?
I too have looked for a printout of Wingdings, with the corresponding alpha/numeric value listed side by side with the symbol. Maybe I should just take the time to make it in MS Word. If it ain't broken, play with it till it breaks.

jgsresearch,

The following will produce a complete set of fonts, in a method which is better than purely "manual":

1) In a column, column "A" for example, create a sequential list of numbers from 1 to 255. One easy way of doing this is to enter "1" in the first cell, and "2" in the next cell. Then go to the first cell, hold down the "Shift" key and move to the 2nd cell. Then "drag" this down to row 255. This will fill these cells with numbers 1 - 255.

2) In the next column (B) , enter the formula "=CHAR(A1)" - with A1 being where you entered your first number (1). Then copy this formula down for the 255 rows.

3) Then format COLUMN "B" with the "Wingdings" font. The first 32 numbers will NOT produce Wingding characters, but 33 - 255 will produce Wingding characters.

I'm not sure if these numbers are what you are after when you refer to alpha-numeric numbers, but hopefully you can make use of this.
