We have just setup a new 2003 server having performed a migration from Windows NT4.0. All our local office users work fine group policies are ok. However we have five VPN users one of which has a fairly fast ADSL link and four with an average link.
The user with the fast link is ok the other users cannot login, they just see either applying you're settings or loading you're settings. I think this was primarily as the PCs were configured and installed in the office and had redirected desktops and folders. I have since denyed acces (read/apply) to the group policy enabling folder redirection but to no avail.
Even creating a new user without redirection causes logon problems in one case up to fifty minutes before the user had a desktop, and then no mapped drives appeared.
We had no logon problems with our old NT4 setup, nothing else has changed.
