woHELP! WINDOWS 2000 ASKING FOR USERNAME & PASSWORD (1 of 2)
I never have username, psw activated on this,win2000 pc i have, but today, it just stop during bootup with this message:
"System could not log you on. Make sure username & domain are correct, then type your psw again.Letter in psw must be typed using the correct case. Make sure that caps lock is not accidentally on". Options are- OK ,shutdown, options..When options is clicked it goes to same username and psw and only ok option.
I did F2 on reboot(BIOS), to check supervisor and user security settings. There is no user, or supervisor psw selected ( unavailable, not use )!

The only thing i did today was scan/installed that AdwareSelect? antispyware program and then deinstalled it when I can't proceed to remove 20 spywares without signing up for $20 charge on it. I ran my long time installed Ad-Aware antispyware program to see if it compare with that first one and it caught 10 only spywares.. that's it.. but now i can't complete boot-up with that message always,i.e.,the next day(today) when i boot up i found this out!

Can that Adware??(cant remember other word-part of this .com software!) as i can't check from desktop pc, had caused this problem?. Im using now my laptop to send this thread, sorry!Never had this problem for a year since i switched from win98 to win2000.

Has anyone encounter this problem?..what do i do?to get passed this message? please help anyone!

BINGO! I did it by entering as "Administrator" without password, it went thru, but all my desktop icons was missing. Tried as Guest and it says it's suspended, then tried one of my username (r69) and it went thru, as I normally use it without any username/psw log in.

Now I have to find out how to boot up without being prompted by that log-in message, i. e. without entering
anything as it's still asking me on same box everytime & I have to enter my username only.

You never know, someone else might encounter this problem and so they will know what to do. As at first, on this problem, I never thought of entering on log-in just username without password until that guy on another Q&A forum, suggested this same step I mentioned as the fix for this problem..then I got it..so simple hihi

Cheer,, I'm smiling now alright !
