Windows2000 and Wordperfect9

I have just installed Wordperfect9 on a Dell Latitude laptop. The Operating System is Windows2000 Professional. When I attempt to open Wordperfect, I get a message saying wp9 cannot initialize on Windows2000. Has anyone else heard of this problem? And if so do you know of a solution. I couldn't find anything on the corel knowledge base.

MS works best with other MS products... you can try running Wordperfect in "compatibility mode" in the shortcut's properties as well.

Either way - Wordperfect on a Win2K machine is moot..

That's not the answer. We have Corel 9 and it works fine with 2000. Make sure that you load it as administrator or an ID with admin rights. Once loaded you need to open it once as admin. You should be able to open as any user from that point on.

I run WP 9 w/2000, and have no problem. I always install as admin, not just user, with admin rights. Also know that on an unrelated issue, WP sent me the latest version of WP 9 for shipping costs only. You may want to check your release number against the latest. Perhaps they have debugged further. A patch was not available, only CD from Corel.

Greetings! You should run "PFREG.EXE" in the COREL sub-directory; then reboot and all should go fine!

As for MS Orfice -- stick to WordPerfect Suite for a much better product and results.
