I would like to upgrade my Windows XP Home Edition to Windows 7 and ran the Windows 7 advisor to check if my OS was compatible with Windows 7 for the upgrade.

I have the following issues to be taken care of for a successful upgrade.
1. Windows Aero Support - Current graphices adapter will not support Windows Aero User interface.

Devices
Intel (R)82865G Graphics controller is not compatible w/Windows 7. The driver installed for this device is not compatible w/Windows 7.

What do I need to purchase/replace in the CPU to make the upgrade feasible?

Thanks for any useful input in the matter.

The Aero user interface is optional. You can still run Windows 7 with your current hardware. It will just continue to look like XP without the Aero bells and whistles.

However, recognize that the upgrade advisor's purpose is to sell licenses of a new OS, even if the hardware can barely support it. If your system is very old, you may see decreased performance with a more demanding, modern OS. You might want to upgrade your entire box (processor & RAM & video). A cheap $300-$500 system may be more advanced than what you use for XP now.

If you can't put 4GB of memory into the old machine, I wouldn't bother with upgrading.
