I have just made an E-Buyer purchase of a 100GB hard drive the Model number is MDT MD1000BB-75CHE0. I can run winmsd and get all the specs for the drive so I know that my bios etc is picking it up but I cannot see it in explorer. The PC tries to install new hardware every boot but is unable to find on the PC or online. I have found a website for a company called MDT but there instructions are only for windows 95.

I have a 20GB SAMSUNG HDD that I want to run as the master with this new one a a slave, I have changed jumper settings and tried Master/Slave and cable select settings and nothing seems to work. I also have 2 CD-ROMS and one removable USB drive. The 20GB drive is partitioned into 2.

Can anyone suggest what I should do to get this working.

Thanks

I was adding a 258mb pc100 dimm, turned it back on. Recived error "Hard Disk(s) Diagnostics Fail" Everything was connected right, checked power, IDE, etc. Has to be Hard Drive. I'll get the specs later, don't have with me. (hard drives specs)
I have XP Pro on a x86 based machine, 501mhz AMD processor w/o over clocking. 128megs of RAM already. What should I do?
format and reinstall, buy a newer one? HELP

psychocom :- Try taking out your new DIMM to make sure it isn't causing any conflicts. It shouldn't be but in the past I have had things stop working or showing errors after installing new hardware even though they appear to be unrelated

Have you gone into disk management (part of computer management) and created a partition(s) on the new drive? Cos if you haven't it won't appear in explorer.

I solved my promblem, IDE not hooked up right. For abrahap, you might want to check out NTSF, ur Hard Drive might not be compatible with FAT 32. NTSF= New Technology File System for the hard disk partion. You might have to reinstall XP w/ new HD and choose NTSF

wolluf

were is the disk mangament that you speak of?

What I am Running:

Soyo K7 Dragon w/raid array
1 80 gb Samsung SP8004H
1 40 gb Samsung SP4002H
1 CD/RW 48X Dragon writer (MSI)
1 DVD\ROM

The Problem:

I added the 40 GB to this system. Device mangager sees it, but explorer does not. Any ideas????

right click on My Computer & select Manage. Under Storage, you will see Disk Management - click on it - it will display your drives & any partitions/free space on them. Your new drive should be completely free space. Right click on this free space area - should be menu including create partition - select this, make appropriate cholces and follow instructions.

been a while before I could try this out, but thanks

Have a star!!!
