What edition of CE9 are you asking about? Many flavors out there! CE Pro, CE Std, CE RAS Adv, CE RAS Pro, and CE RAS Dev.
I have been running CE RAS 9 Advanced on my XP SP2 laptop for a few months now without problems.
I have had problems with some of the hotfixes/patches for RAS, however. Our app uses custom ASP code to modify reports on the fly using the COM RAS SDK. When we apply the hotfixes it breaks parts of the code. Oddly enough, it breaks on things that have already successfully executed once before in the .asp pages (e.g., setting the datasource for a subreport controller object). I don't think it has anything to do with XP SP2, but it's just something else to think about. We haven't tested the hotfixes on any other OS's yet.
